I have learned so much here in nakuru in only a weeks time. im really sad we have to leave already.
THings i've learned in Nakuru
1) It is always a time and place for music. it seems every kenyan teen i know all have one thing in common. the love of music and dance. the bus rides were filled with songs and everyone dancing in their seat. it's like a real live musical!
2) Chapati goes with every food. Chapati accompanied by any food at any time of day is good no matter what. It's usually only really good when it's hot though.
3) Kenyan tea is the best tea i have ever tasted in my life.
4) Everyone is so motivated here. i've never met so many teens who know exactly what they want to do in life. When asked what i want to do as a career i have no idea what to say. I'm still deciding, they just laugh when they hear this. It's so unusual here. Everyone is so confident and sure of themselves. It's amazing!
5) Italy won the world cup
6)Not every Kenyan loves to run. Even though kenyans are famous for running not everyone does here. Although the majority of the teens i talked to love it.
7) the youth are so smart here! most of them speak 3 languages fluently! english, swahili and their tribal language (they call it their mother tongue i think.)On top of that some take french in school.
8) I've never met so many people with so much faith. Not only faith in god but faith that everything will turn out okay. They are so grateful for what they have. These students have overcome so much. I've never met anyone who has been through what they have and came out with a smile, with so much happiness and faith and so grateful for what they do have.
I've learned so much more but my hands are getting tired and im lazy
