Youth for Change winners receive mini-grants at the Arab Youth Forum
27 scholarship winners from 12 Arab countries attended the 5th Arab Youth Forum and the 7th Arab Reform Conference in Alexandria, Egypt from 27th February-3rd March to present their community projects, in order to receive one of the mini-grants offered by the Youth for Change program. TakingITGlobal launched the phase two of this program in December 2009 in partnership with Bibliotheca Alexandrina and local organizations in 14 countries in the MENA region.

With topics focusing on the environment, health, education, unemployment, human rights and youth leadership, the 27 Agents of Change were all offered mini-grants ranging from $ 500-$1000 USD. Regardless of the challenges that any Arab youth face in their communities, these young Arabs presented their inspiring projects with hope, aspiration and commitment to tackle the issues and create an impact in their communities.

In the next stage, the winners will be implementing their projects from mid-March till September and attend an eight week project management e-course. Based on their accomplishments, five winners will be chosen to attend the World Youth Congress in Turkey!

Check out the winners’ names and projects as well as read about the experiences of the mini-grant winners and Youth for Change team at the Arab Youth Forum!

The First Time

My trip to Egypt is considered as the trip of* the first time*; the first time I visit the Algerian capital ,the first time I travel alone, the first time I travel by plane ,the first time I participate in such wonderful conference.
I knew a lot of awesome people from all the Arab world especially Egypt, and I’ll never forget Zina and Manar from Lebanon and Jerusalem.
My participation in the workshop of TIG and my meeting with Tala and Jennifer were an important point in my life, that I’ve learned a lot from it; I learned that I can do some thing to develop my self and to develop people around me, I have never felt such self confidence before and I absolutely felt full of energy when I saw people in my age carrying and acting for their societies
For me I’m still living this experience even after I returned back to my country, and I’m still trying to give the best I have to the project that TIG put its confidence in.
