How to...Promote Your Event on TakingITGlobal

The easiest way to let people know about what events you have in store is through our Global Events Calendar. By adding your event to this calendar (for free) you will be able to promote your event to youth all over the world. The events calendar will not only allow you to upload all the basic details of your event (day, time, location, website), but it will also act as a mini website for participants at your event! What do I mean by this?

Well, once your event is submitted and approved by a TakingITGlobal staff member your event will appear in the events listing. If you go to any event you will see that there is lots that you could be doing. For example, go to the World Youth Congress event page. If you look at this page and scroll down you will see some of the neat features:

-You can add documents associated to the event
-Write blogs letting people know what is happening in the event. People also attending the event can write their own blogs too!
-Start a discussion
-Upload photos from the event. You can either upload from TakingITGlobal or through Flickr

Lastly, TIG members who are attending your event can say that they are attending which means that they can start collaborating prior to the event!

Getting Started:

Step 1: Go to Add Your Event

Step 2: Once your event has been submitted a TakingITGlobal staff member will have to approve your event. We do this as we want to help ensure that the submitted event is legitimate! When your event has been approved you will receive an e-mail letting you know that the event has now been added to the Events Calendar.

Step 3: You will now be able to add blogs, upload brochures, and start discussions with people that are attending your event! And the best thing now is that youth from all over the world will be able to find out about your event!

Hi guys, I think the problem you may be facing is that you will be unable to edit your event until it has been approved by a TIG staff member. Once it has you will receive notifictaion and can edit it.

If that's not the solution contact member services as they'll be better able to help as I no longer work there!

Gender Based Analysis of Selected Tobacco Programs In Pakistan
Gender Based Analysis of Selected Tobacco Control Policy Initiatives in Pakistan

Gender Based Analysis of Selected Tobacco Run Programs in Pakistan is an International Development Research Center's (IDRC) funded research project. This is a pioneer project of this nature in Pakistan and through this project we aim to decrease the ever increasing number of female smokers in Pakistan through carrying out a gender based analysis of policies and programs aimed at tobacco control and to identify gaps that lead to failure of tobacco control within the female population in Pakistan.

This project will assess the effects, impacts and ramifications of Pakistan's Comprehensive Tobacco Control Initiatives on the diverse female population of Pakistan. Pakistan is a developing country with an astounding population of almost 160 million people. Out of these almost 50% are women. Currently Pakistan is on the brink of facing a devastating health and economic disaster as the use of tobacco is rising steeply amongst its youth especially young girls and women. This sharp rise in women smokers in Pakistan is a a clear indication that the policy makers, legislators and tobacco control organizations are currently not running gender sensitive tobacco control initiatives in the country.

Under this project WELDO shall be carrying out a comprehensive review of the existing literature related to the selected areas of tobacco control policy, legislation, programs and initiatives.

In this regard WELDO would also like to involve other organizations working in Pakistan to submit their research reports, publications, reviews etc on tobacco related research. All organizations and researchers submitting their publications will receive appropriate representation in the framework that WELDO intends to develop.

For more information on this project contact us at gba@weldo.org.

When this paper was first published in 2003 MB4-641, business analysis was just starting to emerge as a distinct profession in its own right MB4-643. Prior to this the role was often performed by the systems analyst who would carry out both the analysis and the design on a new system or enhancement. This often meant that a “problem” was made to fit the “solution” MB5-181. The transition from telling the client what they would be getting - versus analysing their problems and recommending solutions – MB5-198 was still a new one for many organisations.

Every year on August 12, the world celebrates International Youth Day. The day was adopted by the UN General Assembly to promote better awareness of the ‘World Programme of Action for Youth to the Year 2000 and Beyond’ – the major international policy document on young people and their role in society. A major focus of the day is practical action to further encourage the empowerment and participation of youth in the processes and decisions that affect their lives. All around the world, performances, public discussions and information campaigns are being organized in support of youth and issues that concern them. Join the celebrations! There are so many different ways in which young people can and are effecting change in the world. We try to encourage that in different ways, whether it be allowing them simply to express themselves; exchange ideas with and learn about people from other parts of world; organize a project; lobby, campaign, or petition; or to develop and share a new innovation. We create and foster an environment that combines learning and action with social networking as a thread that connects it all together. We promote understanding through dialogue.
