How to...Start Organizational Blogging!

A lot of the organizations that use TakingITGlobal take advantage of our blogging tool to connect their work with the TakingITGlobal Community.

What is a blog?

A blog is a web site, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. (Wikipedia)

Some reasons why an organization should consider blogging:

• 30-50 million blogs around the world now (“Blogging the Cat”- people who write about anything)
• Powerful communications vehicle;
• Can keep your network/supporters informed with your organization’s latest news;
• If an organization has a limited budget this can be a great marketing/ promotional tool;
• Unlock your organizational stories;
• Culture of personal blogging at the moment;

How to create an organizational blog on TakingITGlobal?

Step 1: You can either create an organizational blog through your organizational profile or you could create a TIG Group Blog.

Step 2: If you choose to create a blog on your organizational profile, just go to your profile and on the main page there is a section called "Latest Mini Blog". Here you can click on "Would You Like to Add one?" and right away you can start blogging! (Tip: This is the easiest way to start blogging on TakingITGlobal, but you will need to be the administrator for your org's account!)

If you choose to start a group TIG Blog, you can go to the group TIG Blog section on TIG and follow the steps to start one of these. The benefits to starting a group blog is that more people from your organization will be able to use the blog!

A good example to check out!

The Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS has a group blog called GYCA Voices from the Field! This blog details the progress of GYCA members who have been awarded small grants to carry out projects developed in e-courses taught by the organization.
