Hi everyone!
I hope you are all ok.
Today I want to share with all of you what surprised me during implementation of my project activities. It was not only a surprise but also a lesson and an experience.
Starting the project activities it was planned to start with training of volunteers and then shift with a home-based campaign(an outreach campaign where project volunteers will make house calls providing comprehensive information about HIV and encouraging family members to go to a VCT location).
But on the first day, after initiating a youth anti-AIDs club in MUBUMBANO sub sector, the first suggestion received from the club's members was to train them on Reproductive health, and AIDS."As members of an Anti-AIDS Clubs in our village,we should be provided sufficient knowledge on AIDS than others and before "said one of the anti-AIDS club members. For me it was not easy to reject a such suggestion and after discussions with different people we decided to start with village sessions instead of the home-based campaign.
This suggestion impressed me very much.It seems simple but it is not.
After few days,I realized that starting with village sessions will help us to know much about our target group and this will help us selecting families to be visited during the home-based project. And during the home-based we will visit people we will have met before i.e.we know each other.
What is your point of view?
