Related to country: Nepal

Dear All,

First of all many thanks to GYCA to provide a unique opportunity to implement a small grant project title “Access to care, treatment for people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHA) in Nepal “.

The purpose of this project is to remind us our mission, commitment and promises and if successful to influence policy making process and resource allocation decisions for quality care, treatment services in Nepal.

Specific Objective of the project is:
• Develop fact HIV and AIDS treatment IEC materials.
• Provide a unique PHA forum to their share ideas, stories, challenges, gaps and needs of PHA.
• Meaningful involvement of youth PHA in policy/decision level of Health/HIV.

Initially, we are preparing to develop a fact HIV and AIDS treatment IEC material and distribute in INGOs/NGOs, CBOs and government agencies etc. and aware them about the needs of PLHAs minimum standard of quality care, treatment services in Nepal.

Similarly, we are preparing to conduct a PLHAs forum, where they can share their challenges, needs and gaps and also conduct current stakeholders meeting. The agenda of the forum and stakeholders meeting is to survey on the side effects of 1st and 2nd line Anti-retro viral (ARV) treatment and what regimen are provided in 2nd line ART by Nepal Government to PLHA and how many people are receiving 2nd line treatment in a free of cost, because Government of Nepal had announced to provide 1st line ARV regimen for PLHAs in a free of cost.

Short Term Loans for " Access to care, treatment for people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHA) in Nepal"
In today's financial climate, health problem, never-ending cycle of poverty, unemployment, terrorism, insufficient supply of food are just some of the current problem that our economy were facing today, and sadly there were almost 10 million of the worlds children dies each year at the age of five because of malnutrition. Doctors and short-term installment loans are two things that Americans should not have to do without. Healthcare is crucial in order to keep people healthy. For those financial emergencies, small consumer loans should be an option. If what the latest Physicians’ Foundation survey says is true, then doctors will definitely be feeling the sting. The Physicians’ Foundation strives to promote the safety of patients and doctor education. Seventy-eight percent of doctors who responded to their survey believe that there are already too few family physicians. Almost half of those who responded are angry that the government and HMO regulations have ruptured their ability to care for their patients, some even looking to quit their practices. As the population grows under this decree, the ratio of doctor to patient will eventually stretch to a breaking point. This situation is very similar to the current events that are threatening our financial freedom. If the government and banks succeed in eliminating the consumer’s freedom to choose what kind of small-scale emergency financing – like installment loans – customers will be driven to less practical, undesirable alternatives. Studies, like one conducted by Economics Professor Jonathan Zinman of Dartmouth College, have shown that the consumer’s economic well-being will drop if payday installment loan services are capped and wiped out. We all must demand a stop to over regulation. Every consumer must have the right to have a choice of health and a choice for any type of financing the best suits them.
