oneVillage Foundation, iFOSSF to develope telecentre portals in developing nations

oneVillage Foundation has partnered with the International Free and Open Source Software Foundation (iFOSSF) on efforts to develop "Telecenter Portals and Applications." OVF believes that iFOSSF's knowledge and vision is vital to the development of its Open Digital Villages (ODiVs), the first of which will be in Winneba, Ghana (WODiV).

UNESCO supported eCentre for Health emergency and Disaster in Philippines

Information is the crucial element at the time of a catastrophe, a principal lesson that the Filipino medical authorities lerned after the landslide which buried the village of Guinsaugon, close to the town of Saint-Bernard in the south of the island of Leyte, in February 2006.

If the community had access to relevant information, the community would have been able to make the right decisions and taken the right actions to face the consequences of the catastrophe.

Situated along the south slope of the mighty himalaya range, Uttarkhand ( formerly known as Uttaranchal) was born out of partition of Uttar Pradesh, and produces about 8% of the output of the old Uttar Pradesh state. Being a mountainous region, many villages in the state are currently inaccessible by road and are not connected to the electricity grid.
