Microfinance through telecentres in India

Microfinance-a new service for the rural poor through telecenters? Economist say India’s socio-economic fabric makes conventional sources of finance inaccessible to the poor, as a result of which the microfinance sector assumes great importance. And when these microfinance services and products are delivered through the Common Servive centres (or telecentres), it is definitely a blessing for the the rural poor.

A 22 member delegation from Nepal led by Mahant Thakur, Minister for Science & Technology visited India for a five day study tour to learn about India's experience in using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for bringing about development.The delegation had eight Member of Parliament,one each from all the eight political parties who have formed the coalition government in Nepal.
