Flickr Importing into the Global Gallery

I am happy to announce a brand new feature for the Global Gallery. Flickr importing! Now you can import your own photos from Flickr directly into the Global Gallery; copying the title, description, tags and, of course, the image.

The process is simple and quick; and only requires you to authorize the Global Gallery to access your Flickr account! You can follow the simple steps below to get started.

  1. Go to the Global Gallery Submit page and click on the import from flickr link (or the Flickr logo image). A pop-up box will appear.

  2. Click on the Sign In button on the Flickr Pop-up. (Depending if you are already signed into the Yahoo network, you might be asked to sign in before the next step.)
  3. You will be taken to a Flickr page, requesting that you allow TakingITGlobal's Global Gallery to access your Flickr account so we can get data about your photos. Read over the request authorization page and click Allow.
  4. After you allow access, you will be taken back to the Global Gallery and you should see the Flickr Pop-up notifying you that you have authenticated and you can proceed to the next step. Click on the next button.
  5. The Pop-up will change to a list of your recent photos. Here you can select, search, and redefine what you want to import by clicking on an image or entering your search terms in the search box along the top of the Pop-up.

  6. After you have selected a few images to import click the import button and the process will begin. Depending on how many images you are importing it could take a few minutes. Please be patient.
  7. We will import all the information we can about your image and then it will be displayed on the page. You can add or remove details and then either save your work (so you can continue later) or submit it (to begin the approval process).

Remember images uploaded (or imported) to the Global Gallery require approval before they are publicly available. Our team of volunteers will review your image and take action.

If you have any problems with the system, please email the tech team and we will look into the issue. Or likewise if you have any questions about the Global Gallery or TakingITGlobal as a whole, please email our member services team and they will help answer any question you might have.

Happy importing!
