Youth Assembly at the United Nations
The Youth Assembly at the United Nations is a gathering of hundreds of young people from all around the world (18-26 years old) who seek future involvement with the United Nations, civil society, and ways to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The conference takes place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, August 12-14, 2008.

Delegates are encouraged to take part in the Leadership Seminar which precedes the assembly: August 6-10, 2008. In the course of the four-day retreat, participants create a working action plan for meeting an existing challenge in their home communities.

This blog serves to facilitate the leadership seminar participants to share their project ideas and to get to “know” each other in advance. We will also post here news about the Youth Assembly, so keep checking back regularly!

If you are a confirmed Leadership Seminar participant, you can join the blog by becoming first member on http://www.takingitglobal.org, than checking back to the blog.

Introduction!
Related to country: United States

Hello and welcome to the blog of the 5th anniversary YA. I am writing from Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, one of the hosts for the project. Working with Dr. Elaine Valdov of the IICP, we have constructed another great opportunity for young people to discuss, learn about, and share their actual and emerging projects in support of MDG fulfillment.

Since we began working together, it has been my dream to see the MDGs more widely known and to help in any small way to ensure that young people were taking a leadership role in their success. We hope this platform serves those ends.

Over the past four years we have met so many very talented young people doing great projects all over the world. From NGO service, to the arts for peace, to social entrepreneurship that creates important new social enterprise on all levels, it is staggering how many good things are being done in the field. The YA is a great opportunity to learn about those efforts, report back on the work you are doing out there, and to hear the inspiring words of those who care about the very same goals you do.

I personally cannot to wait to meet you all virtually and actually on the blog and at the UN this summer.

Thank you for signing up and being a part of our success!
